David Hurley says:
Couple notes here: A)They were already on edge due to close proximity, but slide of my foot is what killed the shot. B) Short game is always a thing to improve on. Dabbing a fish 4’ away w a 9’ rod isn’t easy. My biggest mistake here was not putting the fly right on its nose on the first attempt. Instead I chose to lead the fin by a foot or two as the boat drifted closer, decreasing any chance the fin would get distracted by my fly. The second fin was definitely an unexpected surprise.
