Falmouth Marine School says: A little more progress on the Skiff.
The three thwarts have now been fabricated and shaped to fit while a fourth, removable, aft thwart is still being fabricated. Templates have been made for the thwart knees and students are now looking at various construction methods to determine which will suit best.
The aft quarter knees are also in the final stages of shaping and once fitted the final profile of the transom will be established and cut.
The thwarts are made from the same Sitka Spruce as the planking with Utile edges carrying the same moulding as the Gunwales and Riser’s.
