Capt Ron says: I was walking thru some woods behind my Papa’s old house and came across an old Hare-gun I had built about 15-20 years ago for a nephew. I was teaching him how we caught rabbits when I was a kid. Boy this brought back a lot of memories of days as a kid. #hunting #fishing #crab #haregun #trap #getoutside #childhood #wildlife #virginia #southernliving #easternshoreredneck #southerncrabber #commercialwaterman #skifflife #saltlife #realsaltlife #downhome #wayoflife #memoriesforlife #thosewerethedays #nostalgia #rabbits #shoreredneck

@luke_mcfad Dude .. it was an unexpected find I had forgotten all about it till I seen it sitting there… I brought it back home with me and had thought about Painting it to preserve it but I think I’m just gonna dry it out good and put a sealer on it and keep it on my fireplace hearth

This takes me back. I’m originally from south west Virginia. Down around the Roanoke area and my grandfather built me this exact same rabbit trap. What I wouldn’t do to have that now.

@mreynolds_balto That’s Awesome!! And I know the feeling, I built quite a few in my life and Was also taught by my Grandfather…This One I actually used some old siding off the remnants of what’s left of my Grandfathers old house so it holds even more sentiment to me. Kids nowadays have missed out on a lot and I’m planning on building a few with some of my younger nephews. The nephew I built this for Was 6 years old at the time and now he’s grown and married and will hopefully teach his future kids.
