Jeff King says: There’s a lot to be thankful for in this day and age amongst unconditional support of family and friends. Though I have to admit, the lifelong dream of targeting giants in local waters was a figment of an imagination I could’ve never dreamed of. Last season 2016 saw a taste, with an early season connection leading to some serious unproductive dues paid. This season 2017 saw timing meet slightly better preparation, and a crew flying the kite for the first time hearing the infamous words “I’m snagged” as a flyer completely out of sight from an 18’ platform came tight on a foreign object of very strong and ornery disposition. Memorial Day 2017 became the shotgun start of the best tuna season I’ve ever witnessed out of my 20th year fishing offshore, and one I will tell stories of for the rest of my life.
One of the first cows of the season hit the deck of the 18’ skiff Piper Down with none other than good friends @austin760 and @matmacdev on a serious assist in one of the most legendary days of all time.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! And happy bending through the remainder of this year of the bluefin that seems to never end!
