says: Me and the miscreants of the FV Harambe rolling back through the piers of the Minnesota Entry. When the DNR said we caught the most fish out of any other boat she checked that day, I wasn’t surprised. We traveled over 5 miles before hooking our first fish, then changed our tactics immediately. Trolling out of the mud into clear water with a certain HJ-12 custom Rapala was the ticket. I have only been skunked once this year and I really attribute that to being able to fish all winter long. I’ve been able to stay on top of wind directions, current flow, and surface and bottom temps. When you’re fishing the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area, and the area in which you are fishing has NO structure whatsoever small keys like current flow may make or break your chances of finding the fish. Not to mention when you find those fish, you need to know what tactics are working to trigger them to eat. I’m super pumped for the rest of our spring and early summer salmon fishing. This is by far the best consistent fishing I’ve done in my life, and I’m only getting better and more knowledgeable. The other half minus skill, HAS to be networking. Go find other guys who are serious about fishing Lake Superior, make friends with them. Share as much information as possible. I owe most of my knowledge to Scott T, and Dave H. Rick L has shown me a few tricks to find the fish this year that have also really changed my game. I won’t tell you which rivers I fish for Steelhead, but if anyone wants to share fishing info about Lake Superior, or wants to know more about it message me!! #simms #simmsfishing #alumacraft #duluth #duluthmn #mnfishing #troutporn #dryflysales #shimanoreels #smithoptics #salmon #laketrout #repyourwater #skifflife #saltarmour #lakesuperior
